Just Be Happy

While it is true that relationships take a lot of hard work, it should not be that hard.  If you truly care about someone, and they care about you, there is a mutual respect and love.  You will want to make your partner happy and you will both make the decisions about your future.  If only it were that simple.

For the gay community, having a relationship is that much harder.  If you are openly gay, unfortunately, you will be judged.  You will deal with a lot more prejudice and stupidity from people who just don’t understand. If you and your partner decide to go somewhere, on a vacation, or even out to dinner, you have the added social burden of people who feel they have a right to judge you.  Both of you will have to be twice as strong to weather these storms.  There are places where gay people are truly accepted and they will tend to gather there.  There are certain areas of town where the clubs cater to homosexual male and females.  There are gay cruises, where gay couples can go and know that the other people on the cruise are feeling the same way you do, a chance to bond and make relationships with other couples who are dealing with the same prejudices.

The truth is, we all want to be happy.  If you have found a partner who truly makes you happy, lives to make you happy, and is willing to travel your life’s journey by your side, you have found what every person on this planet is looking for.  It doesn’t matter if you are gay or straight, just be happy.
